Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989)
this movie caught my eye a while back- i've been interested in watching it but never quite in the mood. the other day there was a special showing of it at my local art house theater (i didn't go.) i did watch it last night at home, though, and OMG. i LOVED it.
the editing, the cinematography, the performances, the practical effects! the sound design! the MUSIC! i was completely blown away. this movie is seriously cool- and it's barely over an hour long!
take a katamari and roll up the works of H.R. Giger, Junji Ito,
Silent Hill, Nine Inch Nails,
Eraserhead and
Akira to get this magnificent, stunning film. the director specifically credited Cronenberg's
Videodrome and Ridley Scott's
Blade Runner as inspirations- i haven't seen either yet but i'm very excited to do so now.

it's art and it's sick, freaky, sexy, weird, gross! so cool!!
do you have 107 minutes to spare? do you love sci-fi horror, amazing practical effects, and incredible industrial sound design? WATCH IT NOW!
